Help us fill in the information gaps in Trenton!
The Trenton Journal was born out of a need to highlight the positive voices in and around Trenton, New Jersey and fill in information gaps through original reporting. Because when people have reliable information, they become empowered to make decisions that can impact not only them, but the community they live in.
The Trenton Journal is an independently-owned and operated news publication that has operated through grants and out of pocket funds. Your support helps us hire more local talent to produce stories about Trenton and connect the community to the resources they desperately need. We can’t do this without you!

Our Social Justice issue is our second print installment providing information on all things Trenton. Though the term social justice has been around for years, issues such as systematic racism, police brutality, and social inequity have been brought to the forefront of the news due to recent events. Trenton is not unique in its issues concerning social justice matters. We wanted to highlight a few notable people in our city fighting against injustices plaguing Trenton, such as Reverend Dr. Charles Boyer, At-Large Councilwoman Yazminelly Gonzalez, and artist Kenya Bullock. These individuals are using their positions and voices within the community to make positive changes. Other community activists highlighted in this issue include Trenton Housing Authority’s Darren “Freedom” Green and East Trenton Collaborative community organizer Shereyl Snider. We also have a resource guide that provides information on food, affordable housing, utilities, education/employment, and mental health/substance abuse services. Also, our photo spread, “One Camera, One Lens, A City on Fire,” gives an up-close account of Trenton’s 2020 protests after George Floyd’s murder.
