The city of Trenton’s continuum of care program is set to conduct a point-in-time count

The City of Trenton’s Continuum of Care Program (CoC) recently carried out a Point-In-Time Count on Wednesday on January 24, at the CEAS Center (509 Perry Street). The Point-in-Time (PIT) count involves tallying both housed and unsheltered individuals experiencing homelessness on a single night in January.
NJCounts, the annual Point-in-Time (PIT) Count for individuals and families facing homelessness in New Jersey, is mandated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Scheduled during the last 10 days of January, this count identifies individuals in emergency shelters, transitional housing programs, safe havens, and those living on the streets or in unsuitable locations. Coordinated statewide on a single day, NJCounts in New Jersey ensures consistent data comparison across communities. Monarch Housing Associates has overseen NJCounts since 2014, commissioned by the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency. Monarch proudly collaborates with local governments, service providers, community advocates, and volunteers in conducting NJCounts to gather crucial data aiding communities in understanding and addressing homelessness.
This annual count plays a pivotal role in determining the federal support required. In collaboration with over 70 volunteers, organizations and governmental bodies associated with the C.O.C conducted surveys throughout Mercer County this year. The Trenton/Mercer C.O.C will launch the count at the CEAS Center, with the participation of all involved agencies.
Key participating organizations encompass the City of Trenton, the Rescue Mission, Trenton Soup Kitchen, Mercer County, Anchor House, the Smith Family Foundation, the CEAS Center, Kinder Smile, Oaks Integrated Care, Princeton Street Friends, Catholic Charities, and Homefront.
