Trenton Fire Director Douglass to speak about fire prevention at police advisory council

Trenton Fire and Emergency Services Director Kenneth Douglas will be this month’s Citizens Police Advisory Council (CPAC) special guest. Director Douglas will speak about how citizens can better prepare to prevent fires and perform a fire prevention demonstration at the North Ward Citizens Police Advisory Council meeting on November 12th from 5:30 to 7 PM at Galilee Baptist Church at 440 Martin Luther King Boulevard in Trenton. Additionally, meeting attendees will learn how the Trenton Fire Department works alongside the Trenton Police Department.

North Ward City Councilwoman Jennifer Williams said, “As we head into winter and the holiday season, we are thrilled to have Director Douglas joining us to speak about fire prevention with our CPAC. I have gotten to know Director Douglas over nearly three years now and his knowledge and concern for Trentonians’ safety is a blessing for our city. We will learn much in a short bit of time with him and I know our residents will be able to make their homes and neighborhoods safe. We will have an interesting discussion for sure.”

Director Douglas’s biography: Before being appointed by Mayor Reed Gusciora as Trenton’s Fire and Emergency Services Director in 2021, Douglas served as the Fire Director and Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator in Orange since 2015, where he improved recruitment, retention and diversity for fire personnel and oversaw a community safety education campaign in multiple languages that helped reduce fires in Orange Township by sixty percent over five years. He was also an arson investigator, firefighter and community relations specialist with the Newark Fire Department, where he worked for 16 years. For nearly five years as Trenton’s Director, he has achieved similar success in the capital city.

North Ward CPAC Meetings are generally held on the third Wednesday of each month and are an opportunity for continuing and open dialogue between the community and the Trenton Police Department and its Community Affairs group. North Ward CPAC Meeting Guides are Councilwoman Jennifer Williams and Pastor John H. Harris. Included at the CPAC meetings are updates from the Trenton Police Department and the Trenton Street Teams, as well as contributions from various City of Trenton Departments and those attending the meeting themselves. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to get to know their fellow Trentonians from across the North Ward and our city. This endeavor is supported by the Trenton Council of Civic Associations.
