Nicole Hamlet Honored as Mercer County’s 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year

Nicole Hamlet, a general Biology, honors Biology and advanced placement Biology Teacher at Trenton Central High School who was recently named Mercer County’s 2024 – 2025 Teacher of the Year, was celebrated by Trenton City Council members yesterday at the Council meeting.

“Ms. Hamlet is a dynamic educator within the Trenton Public School District (TPS), who truly exemplifies true dedication and commitment to students,” said Council President Crystal Feliciano.  “It is our pleasure to honor this exceptional woman who is a resident within the City of Trenton and has been a teacher within Trenton Public Schools for 19 years.  She is the second teacher within the TPS District who has been awarded this distinguished title in the last 23 years, we are so excited for her!” 

Ms. Hamlet was honored at the top of the meeting which began at 5:30pm in City Council Chambers located at 319 East State Street, Trenton NJ, and contained presentations from various Elected officials such as Acting Mayor Kenneth Douglas (for Mayor Reed Gusciora), Trenton City Council, Mercer County Executive Dan Benson, Mercer County Commissioners, Legislative Districts 14 & 15 members, as well as Mayors and City Council members from towns within Mercer County.

“As both a Council member and a parent of an AP Scholar and dual enrollment high school student who aspires to become a teacher, I am deeply inspired by Ms. Hamlet’s dedication and passion for education.  Her recognition as Mercer County Teacher of the Year is a testament to her commitment to creating an inclusive and dynamic learning environment where all students can thrive,” stated Jasi Edwards, Councilwoman At -Large.

“I wanted to make this moment as memorable as possible for Nicole,” said Council President Feliciano.  “She is a wonderful educator and co-worker; she deserves to be highlighted and celebrated, our Council loves recognizing our residents that go above and beyond, we are extremely proud of Ms. Hamlet and this major accomplishment!”
