Tennille McCoy, NJBWC Co-Founder and Chair of the Leadership Institute

The New Jersey Black Women’s Collective (NJBWC), in partnership with Mercer County Community College, is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 Leadership Institute. This six-month executive leadership experience supports, prepares, and advances Black women leaders committed to serving New Jersey with vision, integrity, and sustainable impact. The cohort will launch on Saturday, January 31, 2026, and conclude on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

“Black women continue to show up for our communities in extraordinary ways. As we just witnessed in New Jersey’s most recent gubernatorial election, the impact of strong leadership is undeniable. This institute was created to nurture that brilliance by equipping participants with the tools, strategies, and connections needed to lead with purpose and power,” said Tennille McCoy, Co-Founder of NJBWC and Chair of the Leadership Institute.

Dr. Deborah Preston, President of Mercer County Community College, added: “We are proud to continue this partnership and serve as the academic home for the NJBWC Leadership Institute. The work taking place within this program aligns directly with our mission: creating pathways for advancement, supporting community leadership, and providing equitable access to high-level professional growth.”
