Children’s Home Society of NJ to Welcome Public to Trenton Mayoral Forum
For more than 132 years, Trenton’s nonprofit Children’s Home Society of New Jersey (CHSofNJ) has helped at-risk children, youth, and families build safer, healthier futures through a continuum of culturally-responsive services rooted in prevention, support, and strengthening families.
Recognizing the importance of civic engagement in promoting community needs and wants, CHSofNJ will host a nonpartisan “Meet the Trenton Mayoral Candidates” Forum on Thursday, October 1, 2026. The public event will be held at CHSofNJ, 635 South Clinton Avenue, Trenton, NJ 08611, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. While the event is free and open to all, registration is encouraged; RSVPs can be made at www.chsofnj.org. Registered attendees are invited to submit questions for the candidates. Confirmed to participate to date are Austin Edwards, Corey McNair, Jasi Edwards, and Rolando Ramos. The participation of additional candidates is pending. Joining CHSofNJ in presenting the forum are the NJ Institute for Social Justice (NJISJ) and the YWCA of Princeton.
“Given the impact of our elected officials and their policies on the health, safety, and well-being of our communities, it seems more important than ever for concerned individuals to learn as much as they can about the candidates vying for their votes and where they stand on the most pressing issues,” commented Julie Dees, MBA, LPC, and CEO of Children’s Home Society of NJ. “This seems especially relevant in a city like Trenton – a city with great strengths, but also one facing tremendous challenges. CHSofNJ is proud to team with the NJ Institute for Social Justice and the YWCA of Princeton to present this ‘Meet the Trenton Mayoral Candidates’ event to provide local residents with an opportunity to ask questions, speak their minds, and become more informed voters.” The moderator for this special nonpartisan event will be Dr. Joy Barnes-Johnson, a highly esteemed educator, community advocate, and longtime Princeton-area leader whose work centers on educational equity, STEM education, racial literacy, and community engagement.
