Trenton City Council issues proclamation honoring the Trenton Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

The Trenton City Council has formally issued an official Proclamation recognizing the Trenton Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and its Senior Kappa Affairs Committee for contributing more than 3,000 hours of community service in support of Senior Kappa Week. This distinguished honor celebrates the Chapter’s 77 years of leadership, civic engagement, and transformative service across the City of Trenton and Mercer County.
Chartered on April 6, 1949, the Trenton Alumni Chapter continues to embody the fraternity’s guiding principle of “Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor.” Under the leadership of Polemarch Brother Ahmanish Robinson, the Chapter has expanded its impact on youth, families, and senior citizens through mentoring, educational enrichment, and sustained community outreach.
Polemarch Robinson offered the following remarks: “During my first year as the Polemarch of the Trenton Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., it has been my honor to observe the dedication and commitment of our Senior Kappa Brothers. They have exemplified what it means to be a Kappa Man. I applaud you all,” said Brother Ahmanish Robinson.
This year’s Senior Kappa Week places special emphasis on the achievements of the Senior Kappa Affairs Committee, chaired by Brother Renard Smoots. The committee engages, supports, and celebrates fraternity members aged 60 and older—distinguished men whose wisdom, mentorship, and service continue to elevate the community. Their volunteerism has reached unprecedented levels, surpassing 3,000 hours year-to-date, a dramatic increase from the historical average of 1,000 hours annually.
A signature highlight of their service includes an expansive educational enrichment initiative at Dr. Crosby Copeland Jr. Elementary School, where Senior Kappas led hands-on learning experiences such as mock trials, drone navigation, flight simulation, read-aloud sessions, and a competitive chess tournament, as well as participation in the Fraternities’ “National Day of Reading.”
These activities were designed to strengthen critical thinking, build confidence, and expose students to future-focused career pathways. In addition, the committee packed and distributed over 1,600 food bags through its partnership with Mercer Street Friends Food Bank, contributing to a year-to-date total of more than 6,500 bags delivered to residents of the North 25 Senior Citizen Complex. Senior Kappas also provided winter wear and ongoing support to ensure the well-being of local seniors.
The Trenton City Council’s Proclamation affirms the Chapter’s enduring legacy of service and its unwavering commitment to uplifting the residents of Trenton and Mercer County.
Present for the Proclamation were Kappa Alpha Psi, Trenton Alumni Chapter Fraternity brothers Polemarch, Brother Ahmanish Robinson, Brothers Drew Smith, Lloyd Price, Michael Johnson, and Edward Bullock. They were joined by council members Jasi M. Edwards, Teska T. Frisby, Crystal M. Feliciano, Yazminelly Gonzalez, Jennifer C. Williams, and Jenna L. Figueroa Kettenburg.
