Trenton to Mark America’s 250th with Parade, Festival, and Community Events

The City of Trenton is preparing a monumental celebration to mark America’s 250th anniversary, and everyone is invited. “Heritage Week” running from July 3 – 8, 2026, will feature a parade on July 4th with over 40 marching units, including bands, floats, and re-enactors, antique cars, and representations of many cultures and organizations.
The parade will be followed by a multicultural festival in Mill Hill Park. The festival will feature food, music, an escape room, soccer and hockey clinics, crafters, and civic organization displays. Free parking will be provided.
The parade will begin at Trenton City Hall and proceed on East State Street to the historic Battle Monument, where participants will pause for a brief wreath-laying ceremony honoring the nation’s history and those who have fought for American independence. The parade will then continue down N Warren Street, turn onto Front Street, and conclude at Mill Hill Park, where the multi-cultural festival activities and celebrations will take place.
The City is also proud to announce that Luddie H. Austin, State Commander of the New Jersey Veterans of Foreign Wars, a former Trenton Police Sergeant and decorated New Jersey Army National Guard veteran, has been selected as the Grand Marshal for the 2026 Fourth of July Parade in recognition of his outstanding leadership, service, and contributions to the community.
“As America prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday, the City of Trenton is proud to be at the center of this historic milestone,” said Mayor W. Reed Gusciora. “Given the important role that Trenton has played in the American story — such as the Battle of Trenton, our industrial legacy, and the City’s cultural contributions – Heritage Week will highlight our shared history, celebrate our achievements, and showcase a Capital City that is moving forward and turning potential into progress. We invite residents and visitors alike to experience our revival firsthand as we commemorate our nation’s semi-quincentennial.”
A visitors center at 1 West State Street — the site of Washington’s reception in 1789 — will guide guests to the many events and historic sites throughout the city.
All programs are free and open to the public. Heritage Week is sponsored by the City of Trenton and the Trenton Kiwanis Club. Full details are found at Heritage Week- Trenton
