Winter utility protection program coming to an end

Paying household bills has been a struggle for many around the country during this time, and assistance from state programs and agencies remains a source of relief. If you are currently enrolled in the New Jersey Department of Community AffairsWinter Termination Program, which protects eligible residents in arrears from having their gas, water, and electric services disconnected, please remember this period is scheduled to end on March 15, 2023. The program, which started on November 15, 2022, also prevented vendors from requesting security deposits from new customers who were eligible for the program.

Don’t get shut off! Visit the State of New Jersey Board of Public Utilities for a list of Utility Assistance Programs if you are in danger of having your services shut off after March 15th, or if you are currently disconnected.

If you have any questions about this program, please contact Fidel Ekhelar at fidel.ekhelar@dca.nj.gov.
