Harmony123 empowering Trenton youth with digital access

Sprout U School of the Arts is a performing arts school in the city of Trenton, NJ, teaching an arts-integrated curriculum from preschool to high school.

In an effort to bridge the digital divide and expand access to technology for underserved students, the youth musicians of the nonprofit Harmony123 have organized a laptop donation drive to support students at Sprout U School of the Arts. The initiative aims to ensure that young learners have the essential tools they need to succeed academically and creatively in an increasingly digital world.

“Access to a computer is no longer a luxury. It’s a necessity for learning, creating, and staying connected,” said Allen Ma, a sophomore at Princeton International School of Math and Science. As the Director of Fundraising and District Head of Mercer County, NJ, for Harmony123. Allen has secured 15 laptops and is working to secure another 24 laptops by reaching out to various organizations and companies. “We wanted to make sure that Sprout U students have the tools they need to fully participate in their education, pursue their artistic passions, and explore the greater world.”

School administrators emphasized the importance of technology access, particularly for students from underserved backgrounds. “Many of our students face significant barriers when it comes to accessing reliable devices,” said Danielle Miller-Winrow, Headmaster of Sprout U. “These laptops will directly support their academic growth and artistic development, allowing them to complete assignments, collaborate with peers, and explore new creative opportunities.”
