Mercer Sheriff Kemler Partners with Hyundai to Provide Free Steering Wheel Locks

Steering Wheel Lock Giveaway for Mercer County Hyundai Owners

Recently, Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler announced a short-term partnership with Hyundai USA to offer free steering wheel locks for area Hyundai owners. These particular vehicles have become common targets for thieves after nationwide social media videos incited a rise in vehicle thefts.

If the vehicle qualifies, obtaining a free lock is easy. Residents need only make an appointment with the Sheriff’s Programs Unit at 640 South Broad Street in Trenton, present a valid New Jersey driver’s license, and provide proof of owning a certain Hyundai model on their vehicle registration.

“Steering wheel locks, if used consistently and properly, will provide another layer of security to prevent a car from being stolen,” said Sheriff Kemler. While nothing is 100% when it comes to outsmarting car thieves, we know that the more difficult you make it, the less likely you are to be a victim of automobile theft,” noted Kemler.
