Nearly 200 jobs expected as Meridian Furniture breaks ground on Trenton expansion

A longtime Trenton business is making a major investment in the Capital City’s future.
Mayor Reed Gusciora joined Meridian Furniture executives and members of Trenton City Council today to break ground on a new 220,000-square-foot facility on Enterprise Avenue, a major expansion expected to bring nearly 200 jobs to Trenton.
The project represents another significant step in the City’s efforts to turn vacant and underutilized properties into job-producing investments. Meridian purchased the formerly City-owned property for $1 million and will transform the site into a modern industrial facility, expanding its existing operations in Trenton.
“This is what economic development is all about — turning vacant property into jobs, investment, and opportunity for our residents,” said Mayor Reed Gusciora. “Meridian Furniture has been part of Trenton’s business community for more than 20 years, and instead of looking elsewhere to expand, they’re doubling down on Trenton. That’s a tremendous vote of confidence in our city and the direction we’re heading. We’re not just celebrating a groundbreaking today. We’re celebrating nearly 200 new job opportunities and another important step in rebuilding Trenton’s economic future.”
Meridian Furniture, a national furniture distributor and one of Trenton’s largest private employers, has operated in the City for more than two decades. The new facility will significantly expand its Enterprise Avenue operations, with construction expected to be completed in approximately one year.
“Meridian is investing in the future of Trenton,” said Council President Jenna Figueroa Kettenburg. “I and my colleagues on the City Council welcome their expansion and are excited to see construction underway.”
The development will also bring improvements to the surrounding area, including a new sidewalk along Enterprise Avenue, improvements to the Assunpink Greenway Trail, and rooftop solar panels.
Greek Design|Build will lead construction, with REDCOM Design & Construction serving as the project’s architect.
“We are proud to partner with Meridian Furniture on a project that represents a meaningful investment in Trenton. This facility reflects Meridian’s commitment to growing in the city it calls home, and we are grateful to Mayor Gusciora and the City of Trenton for their support in bringing it forward. Our team looks forward to delivering a building that serves Meridian and the community for years to come,” said Brett Mercer, Managing Partner of Greek Design|Build.
Meridian Furniture President Michael Rosilio emphasized the company’s longstanding relationship with Trenton and its commitment to continued growth.
“Trenton has been home to Meridian Furniture for over 20 years, and this new facility allows us to keep growing right here. We are grateful to Mayor Reed Gusciora, Chief of Staff Jim Beach, and the City of Trenton for their support, and to REDCOM and Greek Design|Build for helping us bring this vision to life. Today marks an important step forward for our company, our employees, and the community we are proud to be part of,” said Rosilio.
The groundbreaking marks the beginning of construction on a project that will return formerly vacant land to productive use, support local employment, and strengthen Trenton’s position as a place where established businesses can continue to grow.
