Shake up at City Hall

Former Trenton Health and Human Services Director, Dr. Adela Ames

We were shocked to hear about Dr. Adela Ames sudden departure as the city’s director of health. Appointed in January 2021, Dr. Ames and her health team was recognized as one of two municipalities in the country to execute implementation of the COVID homebound efforts. She also began working with the city of Philadelphia legislators, community, activists and organizations to brainstorm resource sharing to bring resolution to urban blight, opioid crisis, homelessness, lack of housing, violence, mental health, and tips to address effective ways to manage a no kill animal shelter.

“Two days ago, I was advised that my service is no longer needed by Mayor Reed Gusciora and his administrative team. This effective as of 12-31-22 with notice given 2 days prior on 12-29-22,” Ames wrote on her Facebook page. We also received word that Housing and Economic Development Director, C. Andre Daniels, and Trenton Water Works Director, Mark Lavenberg, have been let go. We have been told that attorney Willard Stanback has taken over Daniels’ role, but sources haven’t confirmed if the position is an acting or permanent one. When the Trenton Journal reached out to Trenton’s public information officer, Tim Carroll, for a statement we were notified that, he too, was also let go right before Christmas. Carroll’s departure was cited for him not being  a  resident of Trenton. We wish everyone well and we will keep you posted on future updates regarding the replacements.
